The ultimate in pain and stress relief. Soothing warmth and aromatherapy simply melts away pain, tension and stiffness from neck, back and shoulder areas leaving your body refreshed, relaxed and renewed.

The different types of massages include the following:

Swedish

Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Hot Stone

Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism. Each 1 ½ -hour hot stone massage therapy session promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body. Our professional massage therapists also incorporate a customized massage, with the use of hot stones which offers enhanced benefits.

The premise behind hot stone massage therapy is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access to their deeper muscle layers. Combining hot stone protocols with a full body massage provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body. The hot stones have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that people’s blood pressure fell after a single 45 to 60 minute deep tissue massage. Additionally, a 2010 meta-analysis in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that massage modalities like deep tissue reduce stress hormone levels and heart rate while boosting mood and relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin.

Sports Massage

Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. The particulars of the sports massage technique are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice. Focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.

Aspects of sports massage therapy are gaining popularity as useful components in a balanced training regimen. Sports massage therapy can be used as a means to enhance pre-event preparation and reduce recovery time for maximum performance during training or after an event. Athletes have discovered that specially designed sports massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries and prepares their body and mind for optimal performance.

For anyone participating in regular physical activity, Sports massage therapy every week or two may be a great addition to your normal regimen. It’s best to talk with one of our professional massage therapists to find a plan that will work best with your schedule, level of activity and budget.

Prenatal

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling).

In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension — which aids in better sleep — and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

Trigger Point Massage

Trigger points are described as hyperirritable spots in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle. They are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. They are a topic of ongoing controversy, as there is limited data to inform a scientific understanding of the phenomenon. Accordingly, a formal acceptance of myofascial “knots” as an identifiable source of pain is more common among bodyworkers, physical therapists, and chiropractors and osteopathic practitioners. Nonetheless, the concept of trigger points provides a framework which may be used to help address certain musculoskeletal pain or discomfort.

EAR CANDLING

Ear candling is the most holistic way of relieving ear aches, sinus issues and even other common issues related to the ear. An ear candle is beeswax or paraffin wax coated cloth that is shaped into a cylinder. At Ango’s Beauty Concepts, we then use the ear candle to place in the ear during treatment. While the candle is burning, our expert therapists will perform massage therapy techniques to assist with relaxing you. The massage techniques also encourage more relief around the sinuses and ears. We cannot claim that the ear candling cures conditions but only that it will help to bring balance and promote healing.

To inform our customers more about ear candling, here is some other information to consider. When the candle is removed, a discolored and often brown, waxy substance often appears in the candle stub. There are a few ear candling practitioners that believe this is earwax, bacteria or other material extracted from the ear canal. However, there is research that shows that ear candles do not suck substances out of the ear. There is no reliable evidence that ear candling can remove earwax and / or treat other conditions.

BENEFITS OF EAR CANDLING:

  • Improve sense of smell
  • Relives sinus pain/pressure
  • Helps with headaches
  • Equalize pressure in the ear
  • Reduces stress and tension
  • Improve lymphatic fluid flow
  • Ease discomfort from allergies

PARAFFIN TREATMENT

Ango’s Beauty Concept uses pure, citrus-scented paraffin wax, spa-style mitts and moisturizing lotion for ultimate skin replenishment and muscle rejuvenation. This paraffin waxing service can be utilized as a solo treatment for hands and / or feet or can be added to any other spa or nail care service.

You may be asking why add paraffin to your manicure and / or pedicure?

Here are a few of the following benefits:

  • The heated wax helps soothe muscle fatigue, reduce inflammation and improve circulation.
  • The treatment exfoliates and rehydrates skin to ensure velvety smooth softness.
  • The paraffin waxing therapy is even recommended by doctors for soothing minor aches and pains.

The physiological benefits of heat are numerous. When heat is applied, the blood vessels expand, bringing more circulation to the affected area, increasing healing nutrients and oxygen at the cellular level and removing waste products that cause inflammation and stiffness.
